Marchnant Quarry

Marchnant Quarry was used during the construction of Claerwen Dam. 438 tons of gritstone rock were obtained from the quarry. After blasting and washing, the rock was loaded by two **1.5 cubic yard Ruston Bucyrus diesel shovels** onto lorries which transported the material to the crushers located on the east bank alongside the road leading to the top of Claerwen Dam.
